Due to expanding enrollment, Helene Fuld College of Nursing, an accredited, associate and bachelor degree granting institution in New York City, is seeking

Full-time faculty (classroom and clinical) for the following disciplines:

  • Medical-Surgical Nursing

  • Parent-Child Health Nursing

  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing

All applicants must have a minimum of a Master's degree in nursing or nursing education.  

For all positions, relevant teaching experience at the college level is desired, as well as experience working with students from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Classes begin in November 2014 for Medical-Surgical Nursing and Parent-Child Health Nursing, and February 2015 for Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing.

Vice President for Academic Affairs

As the chief academic officer of the College, the Vice President for Academic Affairs is selected and appointed by the President with the approval of the Board of Trustees. The Vice President for Academic Affairs reports to the President. The Vice President will have an active role in student interactions and will work closely with staff and faculty members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Overseeing the academic affairs of the AAS program, BS program, and embedded programs (i.e. the Prep Program), including monitoring NCLEX pass rates and creating strategies for improvement through pre- and post-graduation opportunities.
•    Collaborating with faculty and staff on meeting the goals and outcomes of the College's Strategic and Business Plans, including generating strategies for increasing the academic scope and revenue of the College through the expansion of current programs, increasing the efficiency of current procedures, and creating new revenue streams.
•    Teaching in the AAS or BS program.
•    Assisting in the development of admission and recruitment strategies as they relate to enrollment needs, and student performance.
•    Assisting the Director of the Library in his/her efforts to ensure that the Library is meeting faculty and students' needs.
•    Assisting the Director of Student Services in his/her efforts to ensure that Office of Student Services is meeting the College's needs.
•    Creating a quarterly calendar of academic activities for the College.
•    Assisting the Academic Standards Committee in the periodic review of standards and procedures for admissions, promotions, and graduation.
•    Overseeing any continuing education and certification courses.
•    Notifying students of dismissal, and notifying the chairperson of the Academic Standards Committee concerning students for whom he/she can schedule an appeal interview.
•    Securing opportunities for faculty and staff development.
•    Attending Executive and Curriculum Committee meetings, and other committee meetings as appropriate.

Skills/Qualifications:

•    The appointee to this position will have a minimum of a master's degree (doctorate preferred) with experience in a higher education setting.
•    Knowledge of regional and professional accreditation processes and expectations.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).
•    Ability to communicate professionally, with clarity and brevity, both orally and in writing.
•    Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively to initiate action, organize projects, solve problems, enhance communication, or improve processes.
•    Ability to handle a variety of individuals and situations in a professional environment with a diplomatic manner. Also the capability to discreetly and confidentially handle sensitive topics and correspondence.
•    Excellent management of time and other resources to meet established goals within agreed upon time frames. This position requires a high degree of integrity and ethics.
•    Must be available to work earlier or later hours as needed. Some travel is required.

Student Accounts Receivable

The Student Accounts Receivable person is selected by the Head of Finance with the approval of the President. The appointee to this position is responsible for the timely processing, and maintenance of student accounts. Helene Fuld College of Nursing may add, change, or remove essential duties and responsibilities at any time.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

•    Receiving and recording payments from students onto the SONIS system.

•    Preparing electronic deposits for the bank; allocating each payment to a proper General Ledger account.

•    Preparing a daily reconciliation of tuition payment received from SONIS figures and the bank deposit; printing daily backups for the files.

•    Crediting student accounts for financial aid awards when notified by the Director of Student Services.

•    Preparing tuition refunds in line with policy when written notification is received from the Director of Student Services regarding a student’s withdrawal from the College.

•    Maintaining schedule of overdue student accounts.

•    Preparing a monthly receivable and aged report analysis to aid in reporting bad debts per policy.

•    Preparing a monthly reconciliation of grants disbursed and awarded to students on SONIS system.

•    Other duties as assigned by the Head of Finance.

Skills/Qualifications:

•    Two to four years of related experience. A minimum of an Associate’s degree in Business or Accounting.
•    Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook), QuickBooks, and software databases.
•    Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
•    Excellent attention to details are essential, including proofreading documents, and lines of text and/or numbers.
•    Ability to communicate professionally, with clarity and brevity, required both orally and in writing.
•    Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively to initiate action, organize projects, solve problems, enhance communication, or improve processes.
•    Ability to handle a variety of individuals and situations in a professional environment with a diplomatic manner and pleasant disposition.
•    Also have the capability to discreetly and confidentially handle sensitive topics and correspondence.
•    Excellent management of time and other resources to meet established goals within agreed upon time frames. This position requires a high degree of integrity and ethics.

Adjunct Instructor for Introduction to Psychology

This class begins in November and ends in mid-January. The successful applicant must be able to provide students with clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and a standardized syllabus, which will be provided.

The course will be offered on Thursday mornings. The qualified applicant must have a minimum of a masters or doctorate degree in Psychology or Master's degree in another discipline and 18 graduate credit hours in Psychology. Relevant teaching experience at the college level is required. Additional qualifications include experience working with students from culturally diverse backgrounds, and the ability to use computers for communicating with students and incorporating online resources into the course offerings.
